David Mellor Workshop and store.

Bank holiday weekends are for getting out of the city. We nipped up to the Peak District for the day for a spot of climbing and stopped at the David Mellor workshop and store to get a few choice bits and pieces for the kitchen!

Sadly David Mellor passed away recently but his legacy lives on in the form of a thriving brand of cutlery and homewares and design object ranging from the traffic light, to bollards and post boxes. For anyone who wonders what to do with a weekend, this should be on the list. Then head out into the Burbage valley for a spot of bouldering or just a walk along the tops.

Cotton Mills, The early years!

I was chatting to a good old guy up in the Peak District the other day as he has a great warehouse full of old things and I stumbled across these pictures salvaged from one of the old cotton mills in Lancashire. Amazing places, the machines themselves are works of art. Sadly they are wrecks now, never to be salvaged. I spend a fair amount of time in the car driving between factories and through some amazing northern towns and it makes me feel optimistic about the future and also a bit down that we have got rid of so much greatness. I know it has been in the interest of the people to move forward but sometimes it would be great to have so many people working again.

I certainly don't carry any political message but get a great satisfaction from seeing what we are doing and others who are bringing things back to the UK. The people making the products are enjoying it and so are you our customers and we are having a great time.

Tea, biscuits and chinos!

The chino restock is now in store! Picked them up from one of the special places today, stopped off for a cuppa and some biscuits, the final run of the cagoule is due in next week fingers crossed. We have a lot and I mean a lot of people after them so if you are reading this and you are on the list get straight back when we let you know they are online and instore. There are new things in the pipeline but if you are after this model then be quicker than Mr Bolt.
